Education and Child Safety

Securing Futures: Our Education and Child Safety Programs

At People in Need Foundation, we believe nurturing children is central to creating a just and equitable society. Our education and safety initiatives take a holistic approach to uplift underprivileged children.

Nurturing Young Minds: Early Childhood Education

Our day care centres cater to children whose parents are daily wage laborers unable to care for them at work sites. At our creches, children gain access to nutritious meals, safety, early learning and developmental activities critical at this age. Our trained staff engage children through games, storytelling, arts and preschool education. This safe space, away from hazardous work sites, ensures their wellbeing and school-readiness. Currently, we operate 35 day care centres benefitting over 600 children.

Our education and child safety initiatives uplift entire communities by securing brighter futures for their youngest members. We remain dedicated to helping children thrive free from adversity.

Bridging the Education Gap Through Scholarships

Financial constraints and social barriers often disproportionately impact girls' education in marginalized communities. Issues like early marriage, domestic responsibilities, and lack of family support frequently force girls to drop out of school prematurely.

To counter this, our scholarship program reserves up to 70% seats for deserving girls from underprivileged backgrounds. This enables us to provide customized financial assistance towards their school fees, books, stationery, uniforms and transportation - alleviating monetary pressures driving dropouts.

We also conduct awareness drives on girls' education, reaching over 8,000 parents and community members. By highlighting the long-term benefits, we counter gender stereotypes and encourage families to support their daughters' schooling. While focused on uplifting girls, we maintain a balance by also providing scholarships to socio-economically disadvantaged boys in need.

Over the last 18 years, our scholarships have supported education for over 12,500 children, with 8740+ being girls. Seeing these first-generation female students excel in schools and colleges is transforming gender perceptions. Our goal is to build a steady pipeline of graduates enthusiastically pursuing higher education and careers they choose - thereby creating ripple effects of women empowerment.

Overcoming Academic Challenges Through Remedial Teaching

For students who lack supplementary academic support, we run free after-school remedial centres in rural areas. With guidance from qualified teachers, children gain assistance in challenging subjects, test preparation and homework completion. We also provide textbooks, notebooks and stationery required for their studies. This remedial education helps improve school performance and prevents struggling students from discontinuing education. Regular mentoring also builds student confidence.
